Call for Papers

Submission Guidelines

We are pleased to invite researchers and graduate students to submit paper abstracts for the general sessions of IVRJ 2026. We welcome papers on any topic broadly related to legal philosophy, political philosophy, ethics, or applied ethics. However, particular consideration will be given to papers addressing the conference theme, “Law, Democracy, and Relationships.”

Authors are invited to submit their paper abstracts via the EasyChair submission system. Please create an EasyChair account and complete the submission form no later than 31 October 2025. Each participant may submit only one abstract, either as a sole author or as a co-author. In the preliminary schedule, each presenter in a general session will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation, followed by a 10-minute discussion. Please note that presentation times may be adjusted depending on the number of presenters in each session.

Selected papers will be announced by 30 November 2025. All accepted abstracts will be posted on the conference website a few weeks prior to the event.

IVRJ 2026 will be held in person. Applications for online participation will not be accepted. However, those who have registered and paid the registration fee but are unable to attend in person due to COVID-19 infection or related government restrictions will be permitted to participate online. We will make every effort to accommodate online participation, but please note that we may not be able to ensure full technical support for video, audio, or other needs.

Publication

Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of an international journal. Submissions on any topic in legal philosophy, political philosophy, ethics, or applied ethics are welcome. However, special consideration will be given to papers addressing the conference theme, “Law, Democracy, and Relationships.” To be considered for publication, papers must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Between 4,000 and 6,000 words, including notes.
  • Conformity with the submission guidelines of the Archiv für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie (ARSP).
  • Not previously published or submitted to any other journal or edited volume.

Further details on the submission process and deadlines will be announced at a later date.

Please note that submitting a paper is not required for presenting at the conference. However, if you wish to do so, you may submit a paper, which will be included in the conference proceedings and made available to all participants.

We especially encourage the submission from women, members of underrepresented groups, and researchers or graduate students from least developed countries (LDCs).
