Thanks for your participation in IVRJ 2026, and submission guidelines

Dear IVRJ 2026 Participants,

On behalf of the IVRJ 2026 Organising Committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your enthusiastic participation in the conference held at Kanazawa Bunka Hall from 27 to 29 March 2026.

We are pleased to inform you that we plan to publish the selected papers presented at the conference as an ARSP Beiheft (supplement). Papers on any topic in philosophy of law, political philosophy, ethics, and applied ethics are welcome, but papers related to the conference theme ‘Law, Democracy and Relationships’ will be given particular consideration. Please note the following important details:

Deadline for paper submission: 31 August 2026, 23:59 JST (14:59 UTC). Please note that no extensions will be granted after this date.

Submission: Please submit your paper as a Word document attachment to:2026@ivrj.org
Please include the name of the author (or the first author, in the case of co-authored papers) in the file name of your Word document.

Paper requirements: Submitted papers should be in English and between 4,000 and 6,000 words, including footnotes. Please ensure that your submission complies with the following ARSP Beihefte Guidelines, as failure to do so may be grounds for rejection:https://www.steiner-verlag.de/en/For-authors/Manuscript-preparation/

Originality: Submitted papers must be previously unpublished, original work presented at IVRJ 2026.

Co-authors: For co-authored papers, at least one author must have presented the paper at IVRJ 2026. Co-authors who contributed significantly may be listed, even if they did not attend the conference.

English proofreading: Authors whose first language is not English are responsible for ensuring that their papers are thoroughly proofread.

Review process: All submitted papers will undergo peer review.

Publication rights: As the IVRJ 2026 Proceedings have not been publicly distributed, if you choose not to submit your paper to us, you are free to submit the same content to other journals or publications.

The Fourteenth Kobe Lecture

The Fourteenth Kobe Lecture, delivered by Peng-Hsiang Wang, will take place as part of the 3rd IVR Japan International Conference (IVRJ 2026).

This lecture is open to the public, and no prior registration is required. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

An email containing information on an optional guided tour has been sent to all registered participants. If you have not received the email, please contact us at 2026@ivrj.org.

The conference programme will be published on the conference website in early March.

The deadline for the submission of optional manuscripts for the conference proceedings is 28 February.

Update on Abstract Submissions

We are pleased to report that we received a large number of abstract submissions for IVRJ 2026. We sincerely thank all those who took the time to submit their proposals.

The review process has now been completed, and individual notifications have been sent to all applicants via email.

Due to the limited capacity of the venue, registration will be limited to those whose presentations have been accepted. We appreciate your kind understanding and continued interest in the conference.

Law, Democracy and Relationships: 3rd IVR Japan International Conference

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd IVR (Internationale Vereinigung für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie, International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy) Japan International Conference on “Law, Democracy and Relationships” will be held in Kanazawa from 27 to 29 March 2026. The conference will feature plenary lectures and general sessions. Confirmed speakers include Professor Peng-Hsiang Wang from Academia Sinica and Professor Akiko Nozaki from Dokkyo University. Prof. Wang will deliver the 14th Kobe Lecture, which will be open to the public. The official language of the conference is English.

We invite researchers and postgraduate students to submit paper proposals for general sessions. While papers on any topics in the fields of legal philosophy, political philosophy, ethics, and applied ethics (broadly defined) are welcome, papers related to the conference’s theme will be given special consideration.

We plan to publish selected papers on the conference’s theme in a special issue of an international journal. The Call for Papers will be released by July 2025.
